Libya
Since 1969, Colonel Kadafi rules the country with an iron fist.
All forms of dissent are brutally repressed, too often in blood. Arbitrary detentions, torture, executions, heavy convictions after mock trials have become common practice, and the situation does not seem close to a change.
For the victims of human rights violations, seeking justice for such abuses before Libyan tribunals is simply unconceivable. | |
Here are the cases handled by the ACT and currently before the United Nations Human Rights Committee. Other cases are in preparation.
Torture and arbitrary detention of Mr Idriss Aboufaied, enforced disappearance of Mr Juma Aboufaied (April 2008)
Torture and enforced disappearance of Mr Abdeladim Mussa Benali (May 2008)
Torture and enforced disappearance of Mr Abdussalam Il Khwildy (July 2008)
Torture, enforced disappearance and death of Mr Ismail Al Khazmi (November 2008)
