ACT's Team

The Advocacy Center – Trial is made up of experts specialised in international human rights mechanisms. Jurists, lawyers, professors or members of non governmental organisations will contribute in various ways to the activities of the Center by virtue of their skills and qualifications. In addition to the personnel assigned to the programme, the Center will benefit from the competences of an advisory council and a network of voluntary lawyers.

Philip Grant, Director

Philip Grant is the Director of the Advocacy Center TRIAL.

He is also the founding member of TRIAL and its President since 2002. Doctor in Law, he has in addition a degree in International Humanitarian Law.

He is a member of the Geneva Bar and practices part-time as an attorney there.

From time to time he also gives lectures at the University of Geneva.

 

Gabriella Citroni, Legal Adviser

At present, Gabriella is a researcher in International Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. She is the international legal consultant for the Latin American Federation of Associations of Relatives of Disappeared People (FEDEFAM). From 2003 to 2005 she was a member of the Italian delegation at the United Nations during the negotiations of the International Convention on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. She cooperates with a number of international NGOs   providing legal assistance to victims of serious human rights violations. She has written a number of articles and books on international human rights law. She holds a PhD in International Organizations.

 

Lejla Mamut, Human Rights Coordinator

Working for the Research and Documentation Center in Sarajevo, Lejla Mamut has specialized knowledge and experience in research of war casualties and other aspects of the 1992-1995 war. Her interests in dealing with investigation and documentation of war crimes began in 2006 when she started an MA Program in Democracy and Human Rights at the University of Sarajevo and Bologna. Her MA thesis titled Four Layers of Deficiency concerning the Crime of Genocide: the Case of Bosnia and Herzegovina was selected as one of the top five in her generation and was published in the yearly journal by the two universities.
