Libya

Since 1969, Colonel Kadafi rules the country with an iron fist.

All forms of dissent are brutally repressed, too often in blood. Arbitrary detentions, torture, executions, heavy convictions after mock trials have become common practice, and the situation does not seem close to a change.

For the victims of human rights violations, seeking justice for such abuses before Libyan tribunals is simply unconceivable.

Here are the cases handled by the ACT and currently before the United Nations Human Rights Committee. Other cases are in preparation.
