| | | | Aleksandar Vukov was arrested in June 2005, days after the video footage was shown at the trial of former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic at The Hague. The Prosecutor brought charges against him and four other indictees (The Medic brothers Slobodan, Branislav and Aleksandar, and Pero Petrasevic, see „related cases“) in October 2005.
At his first hearing, Aleksandar Vukov pleaded not guilty. He claimed to have known nothing of the execution and to have been at the scene in order to receive ammunition. Instead of ammunition, the van had brought the prisoners who were later executed.
One of Vukov’s co-defendants, Petrasevic, testified that Vukov neither knew nor took part in the killing, explaining that he saw Vukov leave before the crime took place.
