At the end of the war, Kingoro Hashimoto was arrested and brought before the International Military Tribunal for the Far East.

He was charged on the following counts:
- N°1 (responsibility for waging wars of aggression and wars in violation of international law)
- N°27 (war of aggression against China)
- N°29 (war of aggression against the United States)
- N°31 (war of aggression against the British Commonwealth)
- N°32 (war of aggression against the Netherlands)
- N°54 (for having authorised violations of the laws and customs of war)
- N°55 (for omitting to take all necessary measures to impose the respect of and to prevent violations of the conventions, laws and customs of war)

Kingoro Hashimoto was found guilty on counts 1 and 27 for his participation in the Moukden incident which led Japan into waging a war of aggression against Manchuria.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment

Kingoro Hashimoto died in 1957.
