Koki Hirota was tried by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East (IMTFE) for war crimes, as a Class A war criminal.
He offered no defence.
Koki Hirota was found guilty under counts 1 (conspiracy to wage wars of aggression against any country or countries, between 1 January 1928 and 2 September 1945), 27 (waging aggressive wars) and 55 (having recklessly disregarded his legal duty by virtue of his office to take adequate steps to secure the observance and prevent the breaches of the laws and customs of war).
He was sentenced to hang, and executed at Sugamo Prison, on December 23, 1948.
