Ricardo Taddei was born supposedly in 1943. He was an officer at the Argentine Federal Police and worked in so-called clandestine detention centers between 1976 and 1979, where he worked as a guard and interrogator.

According to the police, Taddei allegedly participated in the abduction, torture and interrogation of 161 people between 1976 and 1979.

In 1979, Taddei left the police force and became a colonel in the army, where he worked for military intelligence, investigating far-left groups.

After charges against him began coming to light, Taddei immigrated to Spain with his wife and son in 1985.

He was arrested in Spain on February 8, 2006.
