|  | |  | After the fall of the military junta, Armando Lambruschini, together with others in positions of responsibility during the dictatorship, was indicted and put on trial.
His trial - and that of the overall military junta - opened on 22 April 1985. Armando Lambruschini was accused of five murders, 117 illegal arrests, 35 cases of torture, 8 cases of theft of property from his victims, 98 cases of forgery of official documents, one case of abduction of a minor and one of usurping identity.
On 9 December 1985, he was found guilty and sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
In December 1990, however, he was given a pardon by President Menem and freed from prison.
In 1997, he was tried in absentia in Italy to where he sent his lawyer to defend him.
In 2003, he was accused of new cases of human rights violations, but was assigned to residence by virtue of his advanced age (close to 80 years old).
