|  | |  | After being detained in Croatia from August 2004, Ljube Boskovski was transferred to the prison quarters of the ICTY (International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia) on 24 March 2005.
Arraigned on the 22 December 2004, Ljube Boskoski was charged on the basis of his responsibility as hierarchical superior (Art. 7 § 3 ICTY Statute) on three counts of violations of the laws and customs of war, namely:
- murder;
- wanton destruction of towns and villages;
- cruel treatment.
At his initial court appearance on 1st April 2005, Ljube Boskoski pleaded not guilty on all counts.
The trial of Ljube Boškoski and Johan Tarculovski (see “related cases”) started on 16 April 2007. The Prosecution completed its
case on 6 December 2007.
The case for the Defence commenced on 30 January 2008 and was completed on 18
March 2008.
The closing arguments took place between 6 and 8 May 2008.
On 10 July 2008, Boskoski was found not guilty of all the charges by the ICTY Trial Chamber.
On 8 August 2008, the Prosecution filed an appeal against the judgment.
