In December 2003, the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution submitted a request to launch an investigation into the events at Ovcara in November 1991. Following the investigations, Pejic was indicted for taking part in the killing of at least 200 Croatian prisoners in the Ovcara massacre. An international arrest warrant was issued against him.
Pejic was arrested at Nikola Tesla airport in Belgrade on Wednesday 19th March 2008 when he returned to visit relatives.
A spokeswoman for the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutors' office has said that Pejic’s case will be subject to a lengthy and intensive investigation.
He has yet to be officially charged
