At the end of the war, Toshio Shiratori was arrested and brought before the International Military Tribunal for the Far East.
He was found guilty under the following charges:
- n°1 (conspiracy to wage wars of aggression against one or more countries)
- n°27 (waging an aggressive war against China)
- n°29 (waging an aggressive war against the United States)
- n°31 (waging an aggressive war against the Britannic Commonwealth)
- n°32 (waging an aggressive war against the Netherlands).
On 12 November 1948, Toshio Shiratori was found guilty on count 1 and not guilty on counts 27, 29, 31 and 32.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Toshio Shiratori died in prison in 1949.
